Artist's Comments

There's something about the tiny flame on a lone candle that is so inherently intimate and enigmatic.

Your right. 'Intimate' is a fantastic way to desribe it.

Too many English lessons you've been having. *shakes head*
And I can totally ramble on about how the reflection of the flame being smaller totally reflects the inherent darkness within mankind overcoming the light of goodness because that just totally works.

Furthermore, the fire is an allegory for mankind's will to survive as it illuminates the lone candle, an extended metaphor for the island surrounded by endless seas, a highly significant expression of hopelessness and loneliness which is analogous to the darkness that surrounds the candle. Like the inhabitants of the island in Golding's Lord of the Flies, the hypothetical inhabitants of the candle are so captivated by the possibility of escape that they take for granted the luxuries they already enjoy, such as fire. Finally, the red colour of the candle is representative of violence, anger, and the human capacity for EVIL!

MCH essays. They do things to you. :highfive:
(Although he would totally disapprove of the utter lack of TOFEES structure)

Hell is not a place, it's a state of mind and body; Hell is an obsession with a name, a voice, a face...
